Directors

Sarah Dowd

Sarah is an experienced and successful development and communications professional with director-level experience both agency-side and in-house and she has in-depth knowledge of the organisational priorities that need to be set to grow successfully. Sarah has created and implemented extensive marketing, business development and corporate communications strategies and tactical plans aimed at both B2C and B2B audiences. In her career, she has worked with organisations such as Deloitte & Touche, Greenpeace and international children’s publishers, Bayard Presse.  A motivated team leader with prestigious sector training, Sarah has the skills, experience and professional commitment to organisational improvement and significant business development through innovative, best practice communications. Sarah emigrated from Canada in 2002 where she was previously a journalist and graphic designer and she takes the lead on Tricolor’s creative output.

Frank Crosby

The former Head of Marketing for the Imperial War Museum Duxford, Frank has over twenty years experience, both in-house and as a consultant, of devising and implementing effective marketing, development and fundraising strategies, market research and service appraisal. Frank, who is Tricolor’s audience development and tourism specialist, is used to working with complex multi-partner, multi-stakeholder and multi-user projects and has extensive practical experience of researching and delivering maximum customer participation. A former archaeologist, Frank also writes on history-related topics and has nineteen books in print.

Frank also has a wealth of PR experience, has achieved millions of pounds worth of broadcast, print and online coverage for clients around the world and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Tricolor believes fundraising is essentially an applied communications challenge and Frank, as a Member of the Institute of Fundraising, leads on all client fundraising activity.

Associate Directors

Joanna Holland

Joanna Holland is a consultant working on strategic project development and communications for the cultural and learning sectors. She has considerable experience of assessing development opportunities with a wide range of stakeholders in the cultural and learning sectors. Specialist areas include engagement and audience development.

Organisational and strategic work includes working with the National Archives, the British Library, the Eastern Leadership Centre, MLA East, and the Public Catalogue Foundation (a collaborative project with the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National Gallery.). She has also undertaken communications work for HMS Belfast, Ely Museum, and Firepower – The Royal Artillery Museum.

Joanna’s creative and learning projects include managing Bafta award-winning drama L8r (Hi8us Projects) and leading on projects for Momentum Arts and the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts [NESTA] (a collaborative project between Tyne and Wear Museums and the Science Museum).

Joanna is particularly passionate about intellectual access to the arts and pror to becoming freelance Joanna worked for an interdisciplinary arts and technology agency, NESTA, Tate Britain, and Tate Modern.

Carolyn Mutch

Carolyn has over twenty years experience in project management and construction and has a special interest in historic buildings that developed from her first career as an archaeologist. She has completed a wide range of projects from desktop studies and survey reports through to planning and delivering a huge variety of construction projects in town centres, and residential areas to rural locations. Through her broad commercial experience Carolyn appreciates that excellent planning and project management are essential for the timely and on-budget delivery of projects. Her expertise enables Tricolor to project manage development projects as well as raising the funds to deliver them.
